Welcome
to HelpKevin.net
Kevin
is in the ICU
June
2 , 2003
Last monday Kevin went into the hospital
because he was having trouble breathing. His
doctor found about twelve fungus patches in
his lungs. Last night, Kevin had surgery to
get two tissue samples from his lungs. The
surgery was extremely painful, and Kevin is
currently in the ICU in OHSU recovering.
We still do not know what type of fungus is
on Kevin's lungs. It may be a form of Aspergillosis.
We will post the results of the biopsy as
they arrive. We do that the fungus is not
cancerous.
Please pray for Kevin. He will not be able
to start his marrow transplant until the fungus
is gone, as he will have no way to fight the
fungus once he starts the transplant process.
MARROW
TRANSPLANT SCHEDULED!
May
16, 2003
Kevin will be going to OHSU on June
18 or June 29th to prepare for his transplant
surgery. He will be in for about a month during
the process. THey will use chemo to completely
kill his old immunization system, then release
the new marrow into his blood stream. Kevin
will be at home for 3-4 months following the
treatment.
Please take the time to pray for Kevin's safety
as this is a very risky process. He will have
no immunity for months, and will be closely
monitored to be sure the new marrow is accepted.
DONOR
FOUND!
An exact match bone marrow donor has been
located. This person will be brought into
OHSU for further testing. Please contact
us for further information regarding the
transplant dates. We are asking for donations
for travel/lodging costs for this brave donor.
This site has been created to help support
Kevin Stump, a long
time resident of Washougal, Washington who
is fighting Blastic
NK Lyphoma.
This is a life-threatening form of lymphoma
and Kevin’s only hope for a cure is
a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately,
Kevin’s sister was not a match and an
unrelated donor is needed. The unrelated donor
search is not covered by insurance and can
reach an excess of $25,000.
Kevin is currently undergoing aggressive chemotherapy
treatments at Oregon Health and Sciences University
in Portland, Oregon in hopes of receiving
a bone marrow transplant once a donor is found.
This treatment requires Kevin to he out of
work for a period of six to 12 months.
Kevin grew up in the small community of Washougal,
Washington, where he currently resides with
his wife, Jenifer. Kevin graduated from Camas
High School and went on to serve four years
in the United States Marine Corps. He worked
at Georgia pacific in Camas and now works
for Transco Industries. Kevin also owns his
own business, gear works, where he assembles
drive trains and does gear work. Kevin and
Jenifer are
avid 4-wheelers and belong to the Washougal
Bunch 4-wheel drive club. Kevin is very well
known in the community and would give the
shirt off his back to any one needing his
help.
Kevin continues to amaze his doctors
by working 50 plus hours a week even though
he is undergoing an aggressive chemotherapy
regime. Now, Kevin and Jenifer are
turning to their community for help. The friends
and family of Kevin Stump are asking
for your financial help to make his treatment
possible.
Our fundraising goal is $75,000 to meet the
estimated, uninsured medical and related non-
medical expenses that Kevin and Jenifer face.
Only with the financial support of their family,
their friends and their community, can Kevin
hope to receive the transplant.
